Indeed, later in the day, the owner of the car did have a $115 ticket waiting for him.

The signs they were a-changin’ in DUMBO on Monday — just in time to nail a law-abiding driver.

Workers installed new parking signs on a stretch of Washington Street this morning, changing an alternate-side-of-the-street parking zone into a two-hour parking area, and adding in a “no standing” zone as well.

As a result, the owner of this green Ford went from being a model citizen to a scofflaw at the stroke of a jackhammer and power drill.

And indeed, hours later, a bright orange reminder of city power was sitting on his windshield.

The price of his “violation”? One-hundred and fifteen dollars.

Washington Street between Plymouth and Front streets got the new parking rules on Monday, at the request of the DUMBO Improvement District, the Department of Transportation told The Brooklyn Paper.

It’s not the first time that the city has changed the rules in mid-day. Last year, drivers in Williamsburg were shocked when their once-legally parked cars were suddenly in violation after parking regulations were changed. But those tickets were eventually overturned.

A transportation spokesman declined to say if the tickets would be overturned in this case as well.
